What is Free MP3 Cutter Joiner

Free MP3 Cutter Joiner is a useful little Windows program that you can use to split apart MP3 files or join multiple files into a single MP3.

When you first download Free MP3 Cutter Joiner, you get an installer file that configures the software for your computer and installs the necessary libraries and directories. Following the installation, you can run the program by clicking "Finish."

Since Free MP3 Cutter Joiner was designed several years ago for Windows XP, the user interface may seem dated to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. Even though it looks somewhat old and primitive, the MP3 cutting and joining functions work very well. The interface is intuitive and easy to use, and the splitting and joining functions work with high accuracy.

While Free MP3 Cutter Joiner performs the functions it advertises and precisely splits audio files, it doesn't have many other functions. You can merge an unlimited number of files into a huge MP3 file, but be careful not to exceed the free space on your hard drive when creating the new file. Joining MP3 files results in a separate track saved in a folder of your choosing, so if your input files total 2GB in size, your output file will take up the same amount of hard drive space.

Free MP3 Cutter Joiner is divided into two user modes. The first mode lets you split MP3 files into sections with up to 1 millisecond accuracy, and the second mode allows you to choose individual tracks or music libraries to join in a specific order. Joining music files can be convenient when you want to upload them to your YouTube account, blog or Tumblr page.

To split MP3 files, you simply drag the two playback sliders to the starting and ending positions of the file. You can't split multiple sections of a file at the same time. Instead, you must pick out one section of a file at a time. Another drawback to using this program is that you can't split other file types, such as WAV, Ogg Vorbis or WMV. Since the program is free, this limitation is understandable.

The file-splitting mode includes an embedded MP3 player so that you can preview your track before splitting the file. The playback controls allow you to preview your selection in a continuous loop, so if you want to use the program to make looping samples, you can line up the endpoints to their exact locations. Locating the endpoints is made easy by the graphical display of the MP3 file's waveform in the playback window.
